Why Packaging Design?

Hey! Welcome to my blog! My name is Alyssa, I'm a graphic designer currently studying at UNI, and I want to share my passion for design with the world. My plans for this blog include "how to design the perfect packaging for your brand", "the impact of good/bad design", "how to attract customers", and much more.
We are visual creatures by nature, drawn to certain colors (Tiffany Blue), and certain patterns (broadside posters). Packaging is a way for a company to engage those particular nuances of the human brain. A product has three seconds to draw you in, three seconds for the “hook” to sink, and that is why the package design is so important. It’s also a vital form of communication passed between company and consumer that is essential for anyone that needs to stand out. Let’s explore the importance of packaging design.

Increase in Sales:
One must design packaging that is striking and distinctive. Attention grabbing design increases the chance that initial interest on the part of the consumer will turn into a purchase that will lead to future purchases. Future purchases thus lead to an increase in sales.

 Further Extend the Brand:

Packaging is another surface that you can use to advertise for your product so make the most of it! When product is packaged on a shelf, the customer is able to interact with it, and it helps with long lasting memory formation. The customer sees the brand reflected in the packaging, logo, special style, and certain colors. The next time they walk down the aisle and they see the packaging, as long as the parts of the style stay the same, they will pick it up again because they liked it the first time and it stuck with them. *There will be another blog on this topic in the near future so if you're interested make sure to tune in later*

Multisensory Appeal:
This is a theory that attaches itself to the five senses; taste, touch, smell, sight, and sound. When a design is able to interact with more than one sense it stands a much better chance of sticking in the mind of the customer. People love being able to play, so give them something like the new Smirnoff bottle that you peel like a piece of fruit, and people will respond positively. *Check out my blog later on for more information*

Thanks! Thank you so much for checking out my first blog post! I can't wait to share my thoughts, respond to feedback, and report my findings. Let's make this world beautiful and exciting! Come on and Create!

Alyssa
